Coroneary Church: The Congregation was in the process of formation by 1755. The first Minister, Rev. John Craig, was ordained to the joint congregations of Coroneary and Cootehill in 1764 and the Meeting House was built prior to this. The book 'Driving Force': William, over 60yrs, came with his wife Jane in 1832; his 52yr old brother, James, and his wife Elizabeth and son William; of the rest named, no relationship is given: 28yr old Thomas with his wife and children; George and his wife Mary (how they fit I don't know for sure, (2004.4.5); older children named are: Alex,12; James, 17; John, 20 (this is 'Broghie' John or John 1806-1893). With this ship was the Rusk family of which, Eliza Rusk, is betrothed to John McLaughlin

I found a marriage between James McLaughlin and Janet Crawford that states: James McLaughlin, ae:53, widower, gentleman, born Scotland, lived at Gorrie, s/o Thomas & Jane McLaughlin, married Janet Crawford, 34, widow, Canada, Gorrie, d/o Gilbert & Mary Jardine, 17 Apr, 188?; witn: Nelson & Miss Eliza J. McLaughlin - All makes sense in that Janet could be Jennie who married and since James and Jennie were without partners they married; BUT, the part that mentions that James was born in Scotland really bothers me as, if true, then this whole line may be not of the Cavan McLaughlins. Hugh RUSK, native of Scotland lived to 100yrs, may have taken his family to Ireland
Robert RUSK, a farmer and mill owner in Ireland
    James RUSK, a linen weaver in Ireland
      John Rusk, had one full brother and 4 half- brothers and 1 half-sister; came to Canada with his parents and settled in Markham Tp, Ontario m. Margaret BROWN
        William see above; married to Sarah Jane McLaughlin

      In 1852 John and his 3 grown sons staked a claim in Elderslie, Bruce of 1,000 acres on lots 3-7 on both sides of the 10th. 1 acre of this was sold to be used as a cemetery connected with the Baptist Church at Williscroft. Although the cemetery is known as the Rusk Cemetery there are no Rusk family member s buried there. The Rusk family of Bruce were Presbyterian.   John died in Southampton, Ont, 28 May, 1889. They had 13 children, 3 of which died before reaching 2 yrs of age.
