John Harris at Boston; moved to Mount Pleasant in 1839; married first Mary Morgan, 1839 and second Mary Powley, on 26 Jan, 1892; operated a sawmill at Whiteman's Creek until 1856; purchased a foundry at Beamsville and moved there in 1857; in 1872, the company moved to Brantford and the name changed to A. Harris, Son & Co.; company merged with Massey in 1891; died, 1894; buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brantford.
