UPDATE:
As this month ends the following is in progress:
PHILLIPS:  My researcher in Ireland (Website), Tony Kent (Email), has found that many Phillips and Peyton families were in the County of Cork  and specifically the Parishes of Kinneigh and Ballymoney.  I believe that our families were in the Ballymoney Parish since there were other family names there and that it was the stated burial place of William Hayes Phillips.  The sad part may be that other records we would like to search may have been destroyed.  If all else fails we may be able to connect the various families after 1800.  I have also made contact with a descendant of William Eric Phillips and I hope that that family may have something.
TURNER:  I am still checking census and histories of Michigan, Ohio and New York state.  These searches have not been fruitful as yet; but, I will continue.  Any meaningful references to the Turner's of Michigan seem to start at their arrival in the Michigan Territory c. 1835.  Where were they before?  The early account has holes in in it and so it has not been fully trusted.  Even George's birth date is disputed. Was it 1835 and 1836?

TURNER:  Great news!!!  In late July I was emailed and although I must have missed something in the letter I suggested to the person to look at this site.  Well, she did and low and behold she is a cousin!  She is a descendant of the Charles Knox Turner family who I have been trying to find for over 10 years.  Through the power of the internet she found me in three days!  (Now I am not naming the person  as I have not received approval for such release - I do not give out living person's names unless authorized.)  However, that part of the family, I believed, may be holding some of the information for the American Turner's.  She does!  Her relatives were working on a family tree and she has some photos and newspaper clippings.  I have sent her our tree and am keeping in touch.  So, there is promise of more news, come September.

PHILLIPS:  I have started to read the History of Bandon.  In the mid 1500's there was land allotted to various English persons who were to establish farms and communities in Ireland.  In doing so the Beecher family brought from Somerset many families, of which the Peytons are named, to the area of Bandon Bridge (now Bandon) .  The Whelpy's are named early in the book.  In 1642 after the great rebellion those who reported their losses mentioned several people who owed money to them.  In one person's list was a John Phillips.  Could this be one of our Phillips?  If so John would be two generations before our first known Phillips (Phillips/Welpy).  When I finish the book I will transcribe the appropriate pages and post on this site.

ANGLIN
Thanks to Bill Anglin, of Kingston, for emailing me and letting me know of his Anglin family web  site.  I have know been able to connect the Anglin/Phillips and Anglin/Bacon families.  Both of  the Anglin's descend from Robert Anglin [1775-    ] and Sarah Whelpley [    -1863] of Cork county, Ireland.

PHILLIPS & PEYTON families
It is now believed that the Phillips's and Peyton's were, in 1852, living at Derrigra, just west of Enniskean (Enniskeane), parish of Ballymoney, district of Ballyneen, union of Dunmanway, county of Cork, province of Munster, Ireland.

Can any one help with these divisions ie: province, township, parish, districts -
I think I have this right

The book "History of Bandon" has been found (microfiche) and I am presently awaiting it's arrival.  Some transcripts name the Peyton's and one occurrence of Phillips (spelled Phillipps; this is a similar spelling from Wales (also Philipps)) has been found on the web.

Stay tuned!
